a series on keeping your peace in what can appear to be a tumultuous world.
a poem for today: for Charlie
JESUS | by Logan Nakyanzi Pollard | September 10, 2025

The Cross
I know you’re busy now
Sweet Charlie
But remember us
Because
We are singing now.
You in your throne of light now
With your
crown of dignity:
What the devil tried to steal
But he only enthroned you.
For eternity!
The gates of hell do not prevail
(As you know)
We know.
The space of death
We know we know
That everything is remembered.
Nothing is ever
Quite lost
Even if taken—
stolen
perhaps temporarily
You, a mighty man
A gem
You shine
Your heart:
You loved
People more than politics.
God remembers
every tear
every effort
to understand
to heal
to lead
matters.
And yes– Jesus wept.
But He did raise Lazarus.
And He did leave that grave.
